The House System

Spitfire Neptune

On joining the school in September, each student is allocated to a form. Each form is, in turn, allocated to one of our three Houses; Hussar, Spitfire and Neptune. The Houses are named after ships that Sir Thomas Fremantle commanded at different stages of his naval career. HMS Neptune was the ship he commanded at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

The House system is at the heart of our school and provides a method for healthy competition between students. The students have been instrumental in deciding what is rewarded through our House system. Students were keen that House competitions were not linked to effort in class or academic success. They were clear that they preferred individual subject teachers to reward hard work and progress whilst reserving inter-house contests to more structured competitions. As the school grows, we will hold a House assembly celebrating the winning House and individual House competitions.
