Rationale

Film Studies is studied here at Sir Thomas Fremantle School at GCSE. We follow the Eduqas/WJEC exam board specification.

The sequencing of our GCSE course enables students to ‘read’ and analyse film texts from many genres, backgrounds and time periods. These include exploring the developments of film in the US, and the analysis of three global films.

This course specifically allows students to develop their resilience through critical thinking, exercise their empathy through understanding different genres and the audience impact as well as the following key skills:

  • Research skills

  • Literacy
