Careers Education
Careers guidance is an important part of what we provide at Sir Thomas Fremantle School. We aim to prepare our students to be ready for further or higher education, or skilled employment, and enable them to make great contributions to society. Students will require more than just a great set of exam results to create secure job opportunities, so we use our careers provision to develop key skills and attributes to enable this to happen.
This includes ensuring that students know about the range of different educational pathways that they can follow; including college, universities and apprenticeships. We aim to prepare our students for the world, so they can make a valuable contribution to society.
It also recognised that it is important to open our students’ eyes to the range of options for careers that are open to them. To do this we need to expose the students to a wide range of different occupations and work places which aims to increase motivation, aspiration and achievement amongst all students
We do this through the following:
During our extended tutor programme we dedicate time to specifically explore careers and have a progressive programme that build up year-on-year. Click here to view our Careers curriculum map.
Our subject specialists embed careers within their curriculum to spark enthusiasm for their subject and demonstrate relatable contexts
Our ever-growing list of external contacts means we are able to make use of external speakers from various workplaces and higher or further educational establishments
Tailored trips, such as local and national career fairs or workplace visits.
Access to the UNIFROG platform
Independent careers advisors - Adviza. They are an independent organisation that provide independent advice and guidance. They contribute to our PSHE programme and provide individual guidance in school for year 11. They are also available to offer advice at year 9 and year 11 parents evenings.
