Information & Communication Technology

Rationale

The Computing curriculum is designed to support our students in developing the necessary skills to excel in an ever-increasingly technological world, and to develop a strong technical knowledge. From mechanical topics such as how computers are made, to creative units such as website design, alongside introductions to programming, we have designed a curriculum that gives a strong grounding in core computing skills students become aware of the job markets available within the schemes of work we cover.

As we see the advancement in technology, students look at the major issues of the day, considering the ethical and moral considerations of artificial intelligence, as well as hacking and espionage. As the role of hacking and cybersecurity becomes a major threat across the globe, students uncover who hackers are and what motivates them, as well as how best to protect themselves from common attacks.

Our computing curriculum provides both a solid introduction to computer usage and function in today’s world, and additionally provides a strong basis for progression to further study of Computer Science.
