KnowledgeFilm Music Composition Performance
Students will understand the role of music in films. They will learn the different musical devices in film, and prepare a composition of a storyboard they have written
The Blues
One of the fundamental styles of music, students will discover the history of the blues and its inception within the slave trade. We will study how blues have influenced pop music, and explore the 12 bar blues.
Garageband - Soundscape composition
We return to music tech learnt in Y8, but deepen our understanding of music technology and composition skills. The students will work on creating a soundscape.
Experimental Music
This project is designed to encourage students to ‘think outside the box’ and exam what music really is. They will explore the history of experimental music, try out music making using different styles and non conventional methods and examine graphic scores
Music Notation and Keyboard Skills
Returing to music notation learnt in Y7, students will revise and expand their knowledge of reading music, understanding how to read music more fluently and prepare a keyboard performance.
Collaboration of all skills performance
Based on what is learnt across the year, students prepare all skills for an end of topic test.
